Davis Turner is the co-founder and executive chef of Huckleberry, a Gulf Coast food truck utilizing sustainably-sourced seafood and ingredients from Texas farms and ranches. Turner’s love for cooking was inspired by backyard barbecues and fish fries with his family in Portland, TX, and travels throughout southern Mexico and parts of South America as a child. Prior to opening Huckleberry in June 2020 with his partner Melinda Reese, Turner worked alongside chefs Bruce Auden, Andrew Wiseheart and pitmaster Aaron Franklin. Huckleberry’s coastal comfort food has earned accolades such as “Best New Restaurant” by Austin American-Statesman and Austin Monthly and currently serves as a James Beard Foundation’s Smart Catch Leader.
