Kristine Kittrell is the chef de cuisine of The Diner Bar and The Grey Market Austin, the forthcoming restaurants by Mashama Bailey and Johno Morisano’s Grey Spaces at the new Thompson Austin. A Canada native, Kristine joins the team with nearly 25 years of international experience working in Michelin-starred kitchens around the world and at beloved Austin destinations. Since moving to Austin in 1997, Kristine has built an expansive culinary career in the city, beginning with a five-year tenure at fine dining mainstay, Jeffrey’s, before moving on to become the executive chef of El Chile, a local Tex-Mex concept in 2003. Kristine continued on to work as the executive chef of Mulberry and WeatherUp before assuming the position of sous chef at Tarry House, a private club in 2018. A devoted traveler, Kristine honed her expertise further at Michelin-starred restaurants Cinq Sentits and Comerc 24 in Barcelona, as well as boutique hotels in Mexico and Morocco. At The Diner Bar and The Grey Market, Kristine looks forward to infusing international flair from her stints abroad as well as her Austin background into the restaurants.
