Rick Lopez is the Executive Chef at La Condesa, the award-winning restaurant instrumental in establishing modern Mexican cuisine in Austin, Texas. Lopez trained in numerous establishments in New York, including Café Boulud, Picholine and Eighty One, before moving back to his home state of Texas in 2010. He began working at the James Beard Foundation Award-nominated La Condesa in 2011, where he sought to combine his French foundation with influences from his own Mexican heritage. For over than a decade, Lopez has led La Condesa with a community-first ethos: sourcing product from small & local farmers, a sustainability-focused bar program, and continuing to evolve with the city while still maintaining the flavors, soul, and spirit of both Mexico City & Austin
