Tavel Bristol-Joseph joined Kevin Fink in opening Emmer & Rye in November 2015 as executive pastry chef and partner, where he puts a twist on traditional desserts that each pack a punch of spice. Emmer & Rye has been included in Bon Appétit’s “America’s Best New Restaurants 2016” list, Texas Monthly’s 2016 “Where To Eat Now” list, as well as named Austin American-Statesman’s “2018 Best Restaurant in Austin.” Bristol-Joseph received the StarChefs Rising Star Award in 2017. In 2019, Bristol-Joseph partnered with Fink to open the highly anticipated Hestia and Kalimotxo as executive pastry chef.
